Fifth Anniversary of American Corner in Podgorica

On November 13, U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Roderick W. Moore and Mayor of Podgorica Miomir Mugosa will jointly visit the American Corner at the Cultural and Informative Center Budo Tomovic (KIC) in Podgorica to mark the 5th anniversary of the opening of the American Corner.

The American Corner in Podgorica is one of over 350 American Corners that have been established throughout the world.  Most of them consist of collections of books, magazines, music, and movies.  The American Corner is also equipped with computers that offer databases from and about the United States.

Over 5,000 people have visited the American Corner so far this year, and the Corner has organized over 70 events on cultural, political, and other topics.  The American Corner is fulfilling its goal as serving as a link between the Montenegrin and American people.

Based on the success of the American Corner in Podgorica, the Embassy is currently working with the Municipality of Pljevlja to open a second American Corner sometime in 2009.

Journalists interested in covering the event should be at the American Corner in Podgorica no later than 11:15 on Thursday, November 13.
