On August 8, 2008 Ambassador Roderick Moore presented certificates of participation to the boys and girls who trained this week in the Basketball Youth Camp in Herceg Novi. During this week, the participants were trained in the basics of basketball and learned about the exciting opportunities for education that sports can bring to young people.
After the awards ceremony Ambassador Moore had a chance to meet with Matt Henry, Director of Operations at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and five former players from the Georgetown basketball team: Ashanti Cook, Darrel Owens, Amadou Kilkenny-Diaw, RaMel Ross and Sead Dezdarevic. All of them commented on how excited they were to bring sports and education to the young people in Montenegro.
This event was sponsored by the US State Department and Georgetown University, with support from Opportunity Bank, the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports of Montenegro and the town of Herceg Novi.
