Podgorica
U.S. Embassy Podgorica is organizing an indoor soccer tournament in Budva on May 24-25 involving five U.S. Embassy teams from Belgrade, Sarajevo, Tirana, Zagreb, and Podgorica. In 2006, U.S. Embassy Podgorica's soccer team, despite being from the smallest American mission represented, won the previous tournament in Belgrade which was called the "Danube Cup." Thus, the American Embassy here is hosting this return match. The main goals of the competition are to gather the U.S. Embassy employees from the region and allow friendly competition to foster communication among the posts in the region.
On Saturday May 24, the five teams will play qualifiers from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. The semi-finals will be held on Sunday May 25 starting at 10 a. m. and finals at 12:00. All the games will take place in the Sports Center "Rea," in Budva nearby the main bus station there. At the end of the competition, U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro, Roderick W. Moore, will award a cup to the winners.
For more details on the tournament or if any press persons would like to attend and/or cover the event, please contact Sasa Brajovic from the Embassy on +382 67 28 35 42.
