We’ve recently received a number of emails for individuals asking about the green card lottery that has started. Please note that the Diversity Visa Lottery (aka the Green Card Lottery) is only open in October and November of every year. Sites that encourage you to enter the Diversity Visa Lottery now are fraudulent. When in doubt, you can look for two things. The real Diversity Visa Lottery does not cost any money to participate, so the email or website should not be asking for money. Likewise, the Diversity Visa Lottery is a U.S. Government program. Any website you are reading should end with “.gov” (instead of “.org” or “.com”) – if it doesn’t end with “.gov”, you’re on a fake website.
