U.S. Supports Disability Rights in Montenegro

On Tuesday, July 19, U.S. Consulate Podgorica’s Principal Officer, Hoyt Yee, will participate in a press conference devoted to the successful completion of the project “Legal Counseling Office,” implemented by the NGO “Association of Disabled Youth of Montenegro” in Podgorica.
The project was funded by the American people through the Consulate’s Democracy Commission Small Grants Program. The goal of the project was to inform the public about the rights of persons with disabilities and how to protect and exercise these rights. The project published a “Guide for Persons with Disabilities through the Legal System of Montenegro.“ The “Guide” is the first publication of its kind in Montenegro, consisting of all aspects of the law related to persons with physical, sensory, motor, and intellectual handicaps.
The purpose of the Democracy Commission Program is to help NGO's strengthen civil society, the rule of law, respect for human rights and other conditions necessary for better living conditions and Euro-Atlantic integration.
