Emergency Passport Services
Emergency Passport Services
U.S. Embassy Podgorica is currently unable to print emergency passports locally. It normally takes three to four weeks to obtain a full-validity passport. If you need to travel immediately, you must apply in person at U.S. Embassy Podgorica and your application will be sent to the Consular Section at another Embassy to complete processing. This process could take up to one week.
For instructions on how to apply, please select your specific application type (Lost & Stolen Passport, First Time Applicant, or Renewing Your Passport) from the choices on the left hand side of the screen. The application requirements (including the fees) for emergency passports are the same as those for full-validity passports.
Renewing an emergency passport for a full-validity passport
Although you will pay us for a full-validity passport, the emergency passport we will issue to you will only be valid long enough to cover your current proposed travel, plus a little bit of extra time, just in case. When your travel is completed, you will submit another application for a full-validity passport, but you will not have to pay the fee again, because you will have already paid it to the Embassy. However, you must apply for a full-validity passport while the emergency passport is still valid.
You will have to submit another application form, two more passport photos, and the emergency passport. If you lose the emergency passport, or if you do not apply for the full-validity passport while the emergency passport is still valid, then you will have to pay the application fee again.
If you live in Montenegro, then you will submit your application for a full-validity to the Embassy in Podgorica; for instructions please click here.
If you live outside the U.S. but not in Montenegro, then you will submit your application for a full-validity passport to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you reside.
If you live in the United States, then you will submit your application for a full-validity passport to a passport acceptance facility in your area.
