Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program
Competition for the 2009-2010 Academic Year is now open for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for citizens of Republic of Montenegro.
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program awards grants to foreign scholars to lecture and/or conduct postdoctoral research at U.S. institutions, for an academic year or term. More than 700 scholars come to the United States each year under this program. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements apply for grants through the Fulbright commission/foundation or Public Affairs Section of the U.S. embassy in their home countries.

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is a non-degree research program for junior and senior researchers, university lecturers and experts from academic institutions in Montenegro. This program sends scholars to the United States for advanced research and university lecturing. All applicants must currently be affiliated with one of the universities in Montenegro. Special preference will be given to candidates who have the capacity and commitment to take full advantage of a program of research or lecturing at a U.S. university, and who are willing to share their experience and knowledge after returning to Montenegro.

Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be citizens of Republic of Montenegro
- Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in the field of research or lecturing
- Applicants must be proficient in oral and written English
- Applicants must be eligible for J-1 visa, which requires the grantee to return to Republic of Montenegro for a minimum of two years at the end of the grant period
- Applicants must receive a satisfactory medical clearance
Persons desiring permanent residence in the United States are not eligible.
Dependents: Since the funds are limited, the Fulbright program at this time does not permit accompanying dependents.
How to Apply
Completed applications must be submitted (in person or by mail) in triplicate in English to this address: Embassy of the United States of America, Public Affairs Section, Ljubljanska b.b., 81000 Podgorica. Any application arriving in the United States or elsewhere, separate from the official U.S. Embassy submission, will not be considered. The deadline for applying is November 15, 2008. The final results will be known in March or April 2009.
