As part of his visit to Pljevlja Municipality, U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro, Roderick W. Moore will attend a business transaction between the honey producers from Pljevlja and representatives of the hotel industry of Ulcinj on July 23. The Matica Beekeepers Association of Pljevlja, who has received support through the USAID managed Community Revitalization through Democratic Action (CRDA-E) program, will sell single serve honey packages for summer tourists staying at Hotel Mediteran in Ulcinj.
Ambassador Moore has long encouraged an increase in commercial ties between regions to seize the opportunity of a growing market along the coast and to address the development gap between northern and southern Montenegro. For this reason the Ambassador would like to recognize the significance of this transaction and encourage other coastal business to seek out northern products. Strengthening inter-regional business will be the central focus of an upcoming 3-year USAID project worth 10-15 million dollars starting later this year.
President of the Beekeepers Association Zoran Zoric, Manager of the Mediteran Jim Costa and Ambassador Moore will speak at the event. Journalists interested in covering the event should be at Hotel Gold in Pljevlja at 14:45 on Wednesday, July 23.
On Tuesday July 22, Ambassador Moore will call on the Mayor, Filip Vukovic, visit the Husein Pasha Mosque whose fountain was renovated through the U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation in 2007 and meet with citizens of Pljevlja.
