Chris Byars Quartet in Montenegro

U.S. Embassy Podgorica and cultural centers in Podgorica, Niksic and Bijelo Polje are organizing a Montenegrin concert tour of the New York City jazz group, the Chris Byars Quartet. Concert dates are as follows:
March 14: Podgorica, 2100 at KIC "Budo Tomovic"
March 15: Niksic, 2000 at Center for Culture, King Nikola's Palace
March 16: Bijelo Polje, 1900, at the Center for Culture
The group will give have press availability on Friday, March 14 at 1100 in the Cultural Center KICS press room. The Cultural Center has previously announced this event and distributed full biographic information on the group. All concerts may be filmed and reshown. Any requests for other interviews should be directed to the American Embassy (contact below).
Jazz at Lincoln Center (under the direction of Wynton Marsalis) and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, sponsors these concerts to foster cultural exchange with audiences worldwide. In the fall of 2007 and the spring of 2008, six jazz quartets and four urban music ensembles will visit Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. As part of the "The Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad" program, the Chris Byars band comes to Montenegro after performances in Slovakia, Saudi Arabia, and Cyprus. They will leave Montenegro for Slovenia on March 17.
