Joint Statement of US and EU Ambassadors to Montenegro

We, the United States and European Union Ambassadors to Montenegro, are concerned with the news that the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) rainbow flag was burned outside the Ombudsman’s office this week.  The burning of the flag represents a shameful attempt to threaten the LGBT community from asserting their equal rights in society.  We are committed to working with all relevant partners in Montenegro to ensure that LGBT rights are protected.   We welcome the Government of Montenegro’s condemnation of this attack and we will continue to closely monitor the investigation of this crime.
