U. S. Provides Training to Law Enforcement Officials for Detecting and Investigating Commercial Crime

On September 25, U.S. Government Representative in Podgorica Arlene Ferrill will formally open a special five-day training program on detecting and preventing commercial crime and other forms of organized crime at the Police Academy in Danilovgrad. Supreme State Prosecutor of Montenegro Vesna Medenica will also attend the opening.

The training was funded by the American people, through the U.S. Department of Justice/International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program ICITAP and is implemented by instructors from the U.S. Treasury Office of Technical Assistance (OTA).

This organized crime training complements the 2006 U.S. Assistance Program for Police Reform in Montenegro funded by the American people through the Department of State and the Department of Justice. The program provides training and equipment to support the reform and modernization of Montenegro’s police.

Journalists interested in covering the event should be at the Police Academy in Danilovgrad no later than 09:10 on Monday, September 25.
