Maine National Guard Commander Major General Libby
Visits Montenegro

The State of Maine National Guard Commander, Major General John Libby, is visiting Montenegro on February 9-13.  General Libby will meet Montenegrin Minister of Defense Boro Vucinic, Chief of Defense Vice Admiral Dragan Samardzic, as well as university and business representatives, as part of the State Partnership Program (SPP) between Montenegro and Maine.  He will also participate in the official opening of the Bilateral Affairs Office in the Ministry of Defense.

On February 11, Major General Libby will participate in a donation ceremony at the Firefighting Brigade in Podgorica where U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Roderick W. Moore will officially deliver a U.S. donation of a firefighting truck and other equipment valued at over $230,000.  Media interested in covering the equipment donation ceremony should be at the Fire Brigade headquarters in Podgorica at 09:30 on February 11.

Also on February 11, Ambassador Moore and Minister Vucinic, accompanied by Major General Libby and Vice Admiral Samardzic, will open the Bilateral Affairs Office at the Ministry of Defense where a Maine Army National Guard officer has been assigned to work on a daily basis with the Montenegrin General Staff in coordinating future exchanges in the State Partnership Program.  Media interested in the Bilateral Affairs Office opening should be at the Ministry of Defense at 15:15 on February 11.
