U.S. Coast Guard Instructors Train Montenegrin Maritime Border Police

The United States Embassy in Podgorica, through its Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program, has organized a ten-day intensive Small Boat Operations training for Montenegrin Maritime Border Police in Bar. The training was conducted by six United States Coast Guard (USCG) instructors, who worked with 12 members of the Montenegrin Maritime Border Police. The training was completed on Friday, April 11 with a traditional United States Coast Guard (USCG) ceremony in Bar and a patrol boat demonstration exercise. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Douglas Jones stated that the United States appreciates the cooperation with Montenegrin Border Authorities and that the U.S. will continue to provide support through training and the donation of equipment. The program is part of a broader effort to provide assistance to Montenegrin border authorities. The United States, through the EXBS program has provided over $3.5 million in training and equipment to help Montenegro strengthen its border security, export controls and non-proliferation efforts.
