Consulate Helps Boy to Get Medical Treatment in the U.S.

March 20, 2006
Consulate of the United States of America
Podgorica

U.S. Consulate Podgorica's Principal Officer Arlene Ferrill handed over a passport with a U.S. visa today to a twelve-year-old boy Vedat Sutaj enabling him to travel to the United States and get medical treatment in the United States. Vedat Sutaj is a displaced person from Kosovo and is diagnosed with "kyphosis thoralis" illness.

Because of his status of a displaced person, he could not get his travel documents for over a year and half. Thanks to the engagement of a local NGO "Philia" and the U.S. Consulate/Embassy in Serbia and Montenegro, and Ambassador Michael C. Polt personally, the problem has been solved.

The Centerville Baptist Church in the United States will cover travel and accommodation costs for the boy, while his medical treatment expenses will be a donation of the "Fairfax Medical Center," in Centerville, Virginia.
