Where are you from?
I was born in raised in San Diego, California but have lived all over the United States including Tulsa, Oklahoma and most recently Boston, Massachusetts which is where I consider home to be whenever I'm back in the U.S.
What is your current assignment?
My current assignment is right here in Podgorica, Montenegro since November 2007.
What has been the most rewarding part of your time here?
The most rewarding part of my time here has been spending time in nature! Montenegro's coastal and mountain views simply take my breath away.
Where were your previous assignments?
I've been posted in Mexico City, Mexico; Brasilia, Brazil; Belgrade, Serbia; The Hague, the Netherlands and now Podgorica, Montenegro. Who knows where I'll go to next!
Do you speak other languages?
Unfortunately, aside from Spanish and a little bit of Portuguese, I have been unable to learn to speak Montenegrin...it's just too difficult for me. I really admire the excellent English I hear from my Montenegrin friends and colleagues. Being able to speak another language is a gift I simply don't have.
What attracted you to the Foreign Service?
I was attracted to the Foreign Service firstly because of the travel opportunities the career allows. How many jobs let you travel all over the world and live as a local not as a tourist. I have friends all over the world now that I keep in touch with regularly. I really believe I have the best job ever!
