Ambassador Joins Ceremony for Internship Program Graduates

November 23, 2007

U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro, Roderick W. Moore, and Montenegro's Prime Minister, Zeljko Sturanovic awarded diplomas to the ten students who participated in a government internship program in a ceremony in Podgorica on November 23. This is the first generation of the government internship program, which is funded by the U.S. Government through the U.S. National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and is implemented by the NGO Center for Democratic Transition (CDT). The U.S. Embassy's Democracy Commission Small Grant Program had also funded a pilot program which marked the beginning of the government internship program.

The ten interns from the faculties of Political Science, Law, and Economy at the University of Montenegro worked for and learned about the executive branch through these programs from January to August 2007.  During that period, two more students participated in an internship program in the Secretariat General of the President's Office which is also funded by NED.
