May 13, 2005

On May 14, U.S. Consulate Podgorica’s Principal Officer, Hoyt Yee, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Vujica Lazovic, and the Director of the Center for Russian and East European Studies of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Robert Hayden, will officially open a conference on university reform and economic development. The conference represents the final stage of a three-year project of academic cooperation between the Katz Graduate School of Business of the University of Pittsburgh and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montenegro. The conference will take place in Sveti Stefan.

The University Linkage Program between the two universities is funded by the people of the United States through a $280,000 grant from the Department of State. The program consisted of a series of seminars on pedagogical methods and management of business schools conducted by professors from the Katz Graduate School. 15 members of the Faculty of Economics visited Katz throughout the course of the program. The Katz School also assisted the University of Montenegro to develop curriculum and provided 700 new titles for the Faculty’s library.

Journalists interested in covering the opening of the conference should be at the Hotel “Sveti Stefan” no later than 08:45 on Saturday, May 14.
