U.S. Assists the Municipality of Plav by Building Green Market and Facilitating Diaspora Donations

On Sunday, July 31, U.S. Consulate Podgorica’s Principal Officer, Hoyt Yee, the Minister of Agriculture, Milorad Simovic, the Mayor of Plav, Adem Jasavic, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) representative, Vladan Raznatovic, and CHF Berane Manager, Ivan Kis, will announce the Building a Better Plav Diaspora Fundraising launch and celebrate the opening of the new Green Market in Plav.
The Building a Better Plav Diaspora Fundraising project and the Green Market project were funded by the American people through USAID via the Community Revitalization through Democratic Action - Economy (CRDA-E) program and implemented by CHF International. The total value of the Fundraising project is €3,366, of which USAID provided 45.28%, the Municipality of Plav 17.83% and Plav Strategic Planning Team 36.9%. The total value of the Green Market project is € 180,712.12 of which USAID provided 54.87%, and the community the remaining 45.13%.
The objectives of the Fundraising project are to recognize the efforts and achievements of local CRDA partners in Plav over the past three years; to increase awareness by the Diaspora regarding CRDA development projects implemented in partnership with the citizens and the Municipality of Plav; to present complete information about projects eligible for financing with donations from the Diaspora; to provide them with the information and tools through which they can confidently donate funds to projects; and to introduce new opportunities for economic development through the CRDA-E program.
The Green Market project will provide Plav's residents and visitors with a safe, sanitary spacious green market; increase agricultural production and sale of produce in Plav; eliminate a chronic health hazard; upgrade the municipal infrastructure and contribute to the economic development of agriculture and tourism in Plav.
