On Tuesday December 18, U.S. Ambassador Roderick W. Moore will officially deliver equipment which will help prevent smuggling, terrorism and other cross-border crimes to Montenegro's Minister of Interior, Jusuf Kalamperovic, at the Police Academy in Danilovgrad. Assistant Police Director for Border Police, Vesko Vukadinovic, Director of the Customs Administration, Miodrag Radusinovic, Director of the Eco-toxicology Institute, Ana Misurovic, and Police Academy Director, Zivko Sipcic, will attend the ceremony.
The equipment, worth $170,000, is provided by the American people through the Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) program. It includes kits for detecting contraband, X-ray equipment and other devices for the Border Police and the Customs Administration. It also includes equipment for the Police Academy and for the Eco-Toxicology Institute.
The U.S. Government has invested in equipment and training through the EXBS program since 2004 to help police reforms in Montenegro.
Media interested in covering the event should be at the Police Academy at 11:10, on Tuesday December 18. For more information on the U.S. Government’s programs in Montenegro, please visit the Embassy's web site at http://podgorica.usembassy.gov/.
