Planning and Preparing Ground Forces for Peacekeeping Operations

The Bilateral Affairs Office in cooperation with Montenegrin Ministry of Defense conducted a three day seminar at the Crna Gora Hotel on Planning and Preparing Ground Forces for Peacekeeping Operations from 17-19 July in Podgorica.

This seminar was organized under the auspices of the European Command's Military-to-Military Program.

This seminar event was the first one from this program being hosted by Montenegro and included subject-matter experts from the United States Marine Corps.

The purpose of the seminar was to familiarize the Montenegrin officers/Non-commissioned officers with the US Marine Corps train up procedures prior to deployment for Peacekeeping Operations. Briefings and discussions included: Planning for convoy operations, dealing with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), barrier plans & traffic control devices, traffic control points, and pedestrian control points.

The audience included approximately 32 representatives of the Montenegrin General Staff.
