U.S. Supports Development of the Montenegrin Parliament

On Sunday, February 4, Speaker of the Montenegrin Parliament, Ranko Krivokapic, OSCE Ambassador to Montenegro, Paraschiva Badescu, and U.S. Embassy Podgorica's Charge d' Affaires, Marsha E. Barnes, will open a seminar on "Strengthening Democracy through Professional Parliamentary Performance" organized by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in cooperation with the German Organization for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro, to be held in Becici.
The seminar is part of NDI’s Parliamentary program financed by the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). MPs and staff of the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro will participate in this four-day seminar that will last until February 8. The goal of the seminar is to explore how the Parliament can improve its legislative, representative and oversight functions.
The seminar will take place at the Hotel “Queen of Montenegro” in Bečići. Journalists interested in covering the event should be at the hotel no later than 18:45 on Sunday, February 4.
