"Project Citizen" in 22 Vocational Schools in Montenegro

The top four teams of students presented their projects on problems they had identified in their communities to judges on April 19.  The vocational high school "Danilo Kis" from Budva talked about inadequate health care facilities in Budva; the "Medical School" in Podgorica presented the dangers students face directly in front of their schools; "Braca Selic" from Kolasin talked about the lack of parking spaces there; and the winning team from "17th September" in Zabljak presented how schools could improve specialized training such as catering.  Each presentation showed great creativity in both selecting the problems and then giving solutions.  The U.S. Embassy has supported civic education in Montenegrin primary and secondary schools since 2002 through the NGO Civitas in Niksic with the cooperation of the Bureau of Education.
