Sarajevo Team Wins U.S. Embassies Soccer Competition in Budva
U.S. Embassy Podgorica organized an indoor soccer tournament in Budva on May 24-25 involving five U.S. Embassy teams from Belgrade, Sarajevo, Tirana, Zagreb, and Podgorica. The Sarajevo Embassy team won the competition the "Budva Cup" in a 4 to 2 victory over Belgrade. Ambassador Moore awarded a cup to the winners.
The main goals of the competition were to gather the U.S. Embassy employees from the region and allow friendly competition to foster communication among the posts in the region. In 2006, U.S. Embassy Podgorica's soccer team won the previous tournament in Belgrade which was called the "Danube Cup." The next tournament is expected to take place in Sarajevo next year.
