Six U.S. Senators to Visit Montenegro

August 28, 2006

A six-member delegation from the United States Senate will visit Montenegro August 29-31. The delegation, led by Senator John McCain (R-AZ), will meet with government officials, and other political, cultural and social leaders. The delegation is specifically interested in discussing questions related to trade, economic policy, and other matters of significance for the U.S.- Montenegrin relations. In addition to Senator McCain, the delegation includes: Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL), Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), and Senator John Sununu (R-NH).

The delegation's trip to Montenegro is the first Congressional visit to Montenegro since independence. The visit underscores the continuing partnership between the United States and Montenegro and offers an opportunity for the two countries to discuss key themes in their bilateral and multilateral agendas.
