Georgetown University Basketball Players to Conduct Youth Camp in Montenegro

Matt Henry, Director of Operations at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and Sead Dezdarevic, from Bijelo Polje, Montenegro, former member of the Georgetown basketball team and currently Program Coordinator for Executive Programs at the Center for Intercultural Education and Development, will be coming to Herceg Novi, Montenegro and Dubrovnik, Croatia where they will conduct a basketball camp for boys and girls between the ages of 13 to 16.
Growing up in Montenegro Sead always dreamed of playing in the NBA.  He was awarded a basketball scholarship to Georgetown University, where he enrolled in 2003. He was privileged to work with Coach John Thompson III on the team that went to the Final Four.  He graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and government.  He is very happy to bring sports and education to the young people in Montenegro.
Join Sead and Coach Henry in Herceg Novi on August 4 through August 8. They will be joined by four former players from the Georgetown basketball team:  Ashanti Cook, from California, Darrel Owens, from Louisiana, Amadou Kilkenny-Diaw, who was born in Senegal, and RaMel Ross.
Together they will be training participants in the basics of basketball, as well as talking about the exciting opportunities for education that sports can bring to young people.
One thing is certain.  The skills that they teach in basketball: perseverance, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and integrity are as important in life as they are essential on the basketball court.
This event is sponsored by the US State Department and Georgetown University, with support from Opportunity Bank, the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports of Montenegro and the town of Herceg Novi.
