United States Donates Equipment to Montenegrin Police

On Wednesday December 3, U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Roderick W. Moore and Montenegro's Police Administration Director Veselin Veljovic signed an agreement on a donation provided by the U.S. Government to the Montenegrin Police.  The U.S. Embassy in Podgorica, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Southeastern European Cooperative Initiative (SEECI), provided law enforcement equipment valued at US $ 75,000 to the Montenegrin police to advance the partnership in the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking, human smuggling, and counter-terrorism.
The SEECI Center based in Bucharest, Romania, is an international organization whose primary role is to coordinate police and customs regional actions for preventing and combating trans-border crime in the region.   The center facilitates the exchange of law enforcement information and coordination of regional law enforcement actions among the thirteen (13) member nations in the Balkan Region.  Montenegro is the thirteenth and newest member to the SEECI Center.  The U.S. government, in addition to supporting the SECI Center, also provides funding to member nations for law enforcement training, operational and technical advice and occasional donations of equipment.
