DCM Jones Visits Andrijevica
July 17, 2012
On Tuesday, July 17, 2012, the U.S. Embassy's Deputy Chief of Mission Douglas Jones visited Andrijevica to mark the completion of two projects financed by the US Agency for International development/ USAID.
He officially opened a fishing lodge on the River Lim, which will serve as the headquarters of the Andrijevica-based Lim Fishing Club. In the winter of 2010-11, the club's original lodge was destroyed by severe flooding. In response, the club acquired new land on higher ground and applied to the USAID for assistance in constructing a new lodge, which will be able to accommodate quests and boost tourism in the area.
The second project that has been successfully realized is establishment of a citizens' bureau to improve the provision of municipal services to local residents and entrepreneurs. The project established a citizens' bureau that will help simplify interactions with municipal authorities by providing visitors with access to a central information desk, computer, printer, scanner, copier, and other tools to help them research, prepare, and submit required applications and documents without leaving the municipality building.
In course of his visit to Andrijevica Municipality, DCM Jones visited the local Raspberry Days festival and attended the formal session of the Municipal Assembly organized on the occasion of Andrijevica’s Municipal Day.
